That's all good and dandy, but when is the service is going to be available? Can't wait much longer before I jump ship with both of my ADSL lines.
Waiting for PEO ADSL2 (or a response) is almost like watching the water boils, but at least you know the water will boil!
It's almost 2 months since the plans were released!

Is Pt able to test what speed I can get for ADSL2. I understand the speed can be effected by :
Distance from the exchange, or more correctly line distance from the exchange (see from another provider :http://www.internode.on.net/adsl2/graph/index.htm),
Quality of the line
Modem
But is there a way to test before committing to it? I don't want to sign up to a service expecting a certain speed only to discover a much slower speed?
Cheers
VKV

If distance from the exchange was the deciding factor then it would be reasonable to assume that the speed you get will be the same regardless of which ISP is providing it so whatever speed is achieved should be the limit of what is possible with this technology, regardless it should be better than anything you currently have.

Any indication of activation for Northern Brisbane exchanges? Namely Albany Creek exchange? It doesn't even show up on your list yet :( Looking at the list of QLD exchanges they are all on the south side or city area.

I have been to this site so many times and submitted a interest form dating as back as the start of the year, and am yet to hear a reply, and im really getting annoyed with peopletelecom.
What i wanna know is when will the St Albans exchange be up for the upgrade, cause i have been waiting here for a while for the adsl2+ service and have been a loyal customer to people (formally Swiftel) and the way things are going, i wont be as loyal enough to stay with them any further at this rate. So the simple question is once again, When will the St Albans exchange be up for the upgrade so i can enable my adsl2+ service, nearly every other isp already have the st albans exchange upgraded due to its high customer rate, and people are the only ones that havent got it even mentioned on there site.
I want answers????

If it isn't currently on our website then there's no plans for it to be upgraded at this stage.

Alan L,
I'm kind of in the same boat with D12NV. Been a swift/peopletelecom customer for years and my exchange hasn't been listed for ADSL 2+ upgrade and my exchange has been already upgraded by another provider.
Personally I would prefer to stay with peopletelecom as they have always been good to me. I have had the occasional issue here and there but just making a call or posting something it usually gets sorted out quite quickly.
I guess if there is no plans for other exchanges to be upgraded at this stage....would it be possible for existing users who are not on the exchange list submit there interest in ADSL 2+ so those exchanges could be considered if other exchanges are considered at a later date? I’m not saying that this should be done now .... but maybe it should be something considered if you decide to increase the number of exchanges.
Anyway personally I'm going to stay with peopletelecom .... even if my exchange isn't listed at this time.

ADSL2 is only available to customers living in Perth central area. I was told People Telecom has not intention to extend the services to suburbs as the cost would be too high. I was also told only Iinet provides ADSL2 services to suburbs.
Lately, I read news regarding the negoiation of using Iinet's equipment by People Telecom, as a wholesale deal. Any news on the negoiation?
My contract with People Telecom will expire in August 2006. So if People Telecom would not provide ADSL2 to outer suburbs in Perth in the foreseeable future, I will consider to swift to Iinet as the same amount I currently pay I can get a faster connection with Iinet.

Hello,
I was wondering if we are able to go on an ADSL2 plan even if ADSL2 is not available on our exchange?
The ADSL2 24000/1000/10Gb for $59.95 looks better than the 1500/256/10Gb for $69.95
If I was on the ADSL2 plan and it is not available, wouldn't I still get the 1500/256 speeds?
Am I missing something here?
Mark
Hi,
No sorry you can not do that. Remember, you can always bundle your services to get the plan price even lower :)

Phil

Thanks, I did see that but didn't notice the links to the states on the page that it goes to. Not too many exchanges on there unfortunately.

Quick answer no.
Hello Alan,
That is not exactly the answer I had hoped for. In the apc magazine of June 2006 Dan Warne wrote on page 55:
Before an ISP connects an ADSL2+ service they must conduct a Telstra service qualification (SQ) on your line. This tells them whether they are allowed to hook up for ADSL2+, but along the way, it tells them detailed information about your line length, the thickness/quality of the copper cable running to your house, and so on. They might be hesitant to give the information out but if you can find a friendly sales consultant they may be prepared to help you.
Now the question is are there any "friendly sales consultants" at PeopleTelecom?
Salut,
Mathias

Just wondering Alan, does People Telecom have any influence at all with Nextep with regards to ADSL2 exchange installs? For example if you have a lot of users who are all on a specific exchange that is not in Nextep's rollout plan can you say to them "hey we have a bucket load of user's on the Boronia Exchange" (ok..that's a plug for my exchange :) ), will that have any effect or are your totally at their planing mercy?
I've also noticed that my Billion ADSL2 modem is now showing that Telstra have in fact installed ADSL2A Annex equipment in my exchange, but they just haven't enabled ADSL2 yet. <Sigh> Why won't anyone give me ADSL2 :(
