Not quite sure if this is the right Forum, But I bought a magazine that had the new Mandrake 10.1 in iso files on the "free disc".
The reason is because i have always been keen to install a linux distro and run to see if it will work on my system.
First of all , I'm running:Gigabyte GA-7Vt600 1394 M/B
Athlon 2400+
512MB DDR
Winfast 280le 128MB Nvidia Geforce4 Ti 4200 AGPx8
(VIVO edition)
Hercules game theater 7.1 soundcard
Seagate 80GB IDE 7200rpm
WD 120GB SATA.
Lite on DVD-RW/CD-RW combo.

I know that Linux Distros have hardware compatability issues, However, can anyone help me with any knowledge regarding the Mandrake OS and my hardware?
Just before writing this , i tried to install it (hoping to install on my 120GB SATA that i had formated) however after selecting the language, it came to the next part of loading the VIA SATA driver in which it seemed to hang. After 4 minutes ,I decided to turn off and come here for help.

Thanks. I tried the command line, but it didnt seem to work. I installed it on my 80GB IDE as a dual boot.
Found out that it did not like my sound card and Vid card, didnt even get to my netcom modem.

For the video - you have NVIDIA , so go to their website and you can download a driver from there, it works very well..

I use fedora core 3, which has very good hardware support (works a dream on my toshiba laptop) only problem I have ever had is the nvidia, but their drivers are very good..
