Officially Microsoft did not create a Linux version of MSN Messenger. However there is a so called clone of MSN Messenger for the Linux platform, AMSN Messenger. Check it out at: http://amsn.sourceforge.net

Well, I'm sure you know about gaim (http://gaim.sourceforge.net/), which is the one I use in linux and I'm very happy with. There's also Kopete (http://kopete.kde.org/), but requires KDE to run (correct me if I'm wrong), which are the two most popular ones.
For command line MSN, a quick google search revealed LMME (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lmme). I'm not sure how stable this is or when it was last updated... it may have been abandoned.
Also worth checking out is AMSN (http://amsn.sourceforge.net/)
Other than that you may be out of luck finding a command line IM client for MSN.
Good luck!

If you want one for the command line you may find that lmme (http://sourceforge.net/projects/lmme) is a little old (2001 was the last release... so I doubt it will work well with the current protocol changes).
However, you should find that tmsn (http://sourceforge.net/projects/tmsnc/) (text based MSN) works well.
An extract from their site:
"A textbased MSN client written in C.
It is currently being developed on a BSD platform and should support most of the Unix/BSD/Linux distributions. The client requires openssl to be installed. The interface is written in the Ncurses library."
We careful, it's only new.... and still beta, but at least it's likely to work with the latest MSN IM protocols (the project was last updated on the 20th of Oct 2004!).
Pebrot (http://sourceforge.net/projects/pebrot/) is also another interesting one.... defined as:
A text mode MSN messenger client implemented in Python..
Hopefully one of these is of use... :D
Personally.. I'm a GAIM user. ;)

Console wise , seeing as I like everything to look like irc. I use bitlbee and irrsi. There is also centericq which is pretty good.

Well friend as long as I know the best one is GAIM Internet Messenger.. It's compatible with Yahoo,MSN,GTalk,IRC,Jabber,AIM... You can even send files with it, but not receive..Besides this, there is also aMSN, which is compatible only with MSN network! It's nice because it offers webcam support.
