See one or two of the other posts in this section.
Recommend e-smith server (also known a SME).

Modem in full bridge, connected to Linux box. Other network card in linux connected to Switch.

will that mean all the traffic goes thru the box?

will i have 2 forward all ports 2 the linux box? then open ports from the linux box>?

When the modem is in full bridge (or even half bridge), ALL traffic is passed to the box. Actually, in half bridge, the modem handle the PPoE/PPoA stuff, so you don't need to worry about that.

No ports need forwarding, unless you are running multiple servers (ie one for web, one for email, one for net access etc).

This linux box becomes your gateway machine, so all the Win-doze machines need to be setup with it as the gateway.

SME server allows you to forward any port (or range of ports) you want. I have been using it for 4 years at a number of sites in a variety of configurations. It's a very flexible, easy to understand distribution. If you want to learn a bit more about it check out www.contribs.org or if you have any specific questions feel free to ask away and I might be able to point you in the right direction.
