It means that you will get ADSL providing there is a port available when Telstra Engineering go to connect your line.

Therefore you will definitely get ADSL and are 99% sure of getting it on/around that date.

I would caution you about buying your modem before you have absolute certainty that your connection will be successful

I have a friend who has been sitting at that screen for 2 weeks now, and only today it got updated.

On face value it looks like telstra rejected it the day after it was received but someone neglected to update the status screen until today....... almost 2 weeks later

My own application, also submitted the same day with the same dates as my friends on the status screen was also rejected on the 5th, but again the status screen was not updated until today.

I rang swiftel this morning (which I think is what prompted MY status to be updated) to find out why it was taking so long.

Luckily in my case it appears to be just a mismatch of my address details (pretty sure this was my fault ) and I may still get adsl, but will just have to wait as they re-submit my application.

I wish they had updated the status straight away instead of wasting all this time until I rang them, it could have been sorted out on the 5th and my adsl could have been activated by now.

Also my friend and I would not have purchased our modems last friday, we were hesitant to purchase but after reading the reply to your first post we felt confident that we would both be getting adsl as our applications had not been rejected.

I had my business connected to swiftel a few weeks ago and everything went very smoothly, connected in 6 days.

I have been very impressed with the service received when ever I have contacted swiftel by phone, but I believe they may have problems with keeping the status pages updated.

My friend now has a brand new billion 711 if anyone is looking for one in the sydney area.
And depending on how my application goes there may be a billion 741ge as well

"but I believe they may have problems with keeping the status pages updated. "

That shouldn't be the case because the status of each application is automatically updated by the reports received on a daily basis from Telstra.

However there have been several instances lately similar to the ones you describe in your post.

Swiftel will review the peocesses for updating records and will also discuss with Telstra whether there are problems within their update systems.

unfortunately, I was not updated by email until the 17th!!!, 15 days AFTER telstra rejected my application!!!!

So far, my new application on a different number has taken 10 days.. still waiting.. I'll be calling up swifttel every day to get an update though, as I have absolutely no faith in their automated system... I'd be up and running on adsl by now if i'd known on the 3rd of June that there were problems with my first application...

not happy jan

It would be nice is they could call you if there is a problem with your application (or at least send en email)

In my case it was just a silly mistake with the address

so here I am 17 days after submitting my original application still waiting *sigh*

Yesterday I spoke to swiftdsl via phone and they informed me that Telstra had acknowledged my application (resubmitted on the 17th - *fingers crossed*) but status page isn't updated.

I will be sure to keep in touch with them via phone to make sure there are no hicups with this one.

I have 2 other applications in play at the moment (friends signing up on my recomendation) that I am also keeping an eye on

Even though I am not happy with the delays, I have to accept responsibility for making the initial mistake with the address info.
Had it not been for that I may well be enjoying adsl at home already (my business already connected with swiftel)

The people I have spoken to on the phone have been nothing but professional and helpful at all times, so I have no regrets with my choice of provider.

It is just a problem with their status page updates that needs to be looked at I think

"It is just a problem with their status page updates that needs to be looked at I think"

There are issues with updating the status page but they are not going to be easy to eliminate.

By the end of June we will have implemented the second major revision of our on line order entry and tracking system.

However the new version, like the current version, will rely on the accuracy of the data entry of the applicant and the timely and complete response files from Telstra.

Neither of those factors is under Swiftel's control.

What we will now plan to do, once the new version is fully implemented and running trouble free, it to concentrate on implementing some exception reporting routines that will be designed to pick up instances of longer than expected activation times.

The comments made on this forum have been of great assistance in making improvements to many aspects of our systems.
