Has anyone had any experience with these bastards and linux?

My linux box recognises the SCSI card, and knows that something is connected to the channel the DAT drive is using, but I'm lost about how to mount the damn thing in linux.

The DAT unit I've got is a Certance 1U Rackmount DAT 72
http://www.certance.com/products/srssDrives/CD72LW1U-S.HTML

but I can't seem to figure out how to even get linux to recognise it's there!

Any help would be appreciated.

I should add that I'm using Fedora core 1 too (if that's of any help?)

Hi sticky_chicken,

I originally tried to mount the tape drive, but subsequently found out that it can't be mounted like any other file system.

Rather, you just point what ever backup software your using to /dev/st0 (as it was in my situation) and it just works.

I did notice that the SCSI card did detect that the drive was connected during the POST when I rebooted the box.

If you want to know more, PM me.
