BEFORE STARTING: make sure you have a memory card with free space, the serial and model number from the back of your PS2 and a lot of patience!
Hardware-
1. Install the PS2 Network Adapter as the Network Adaptor manual instructs.
2. Connect all the wires (AV, power, network cable) as the Network Adaptor manual instructs. Network cable goes into a free LAN port on the Netcomm1300 plus 4.
NOTE:you are connecting the PS2 into the router DO NOT use crossover cables, use straight through cables (if unsure ask vendor).
Software-
1. Load up the CD titled Network Access Disk which came with the Network Adaptor; it will ask what country you are in select Australia.
2. When the intro and all the talking is over, it will ask you what country you are in again select Australia.
3. Next it will ask you who your ISP is; Swiftel is not on the list so select other.
4. Next select the adapter, there should only be one choice which is SCE/Ethernet (Network Adaptor) so choose it.
5. Next select your hardware connection mode, if you are unsure just choose Auto-Detect.
6. Next it will ask if you connect to your ISP (Swiftel) via PPPoE, we do, but in this case just select NO.
7. Next it will ask if you use DHCP to obtain an IP address, once again select NO.
8. At the next screen you need to enter an IP address, a netmask and a gateway IP. The IP address should be 192.168.1.x (chose a number for x which will not create a conflicting IP address on your network), the netmask should be 255.255.255.0 and the gateway IP (IP of router) should be 192.168.1.1
NOTE: This step is written assuming you set up your Netcomm1300 plus 4 using the default IP of 192.168.1.1.
9. Now that you have assigned your PS2 with an IP address it’s time to turn on your computer to access the Netcomm1300 plus 4 set up page. Open a web browser and type in http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar and enter the page, enter your username and password (default username: admin, default password: password).
10. Click on show advanced settings and then click on misc configuration, enable DMZ from the drop down box and type in the PS2’s IP address which you just assigned it (192.168.1.x), in the box below. Scroll down click submit. In the left hand side column, scroll down and click on Save Setting and Reboot.
11. Ok back to the PS2, the page after step 8 ask are the DNS obtained automatically, we can click yes here, but to be safe click NO.
12. Enter the primary and secondary DNS. Chose your city’s DNS from the list below.
Perth Primary 202.154.79.33
Perth Secondary 202.154.92.35
Sydney Primary 202.154.83.53
Sydney Secondary 202.154.92.35
Melbourne Primary 218.214.17.1
Melbourne Secondary 202.154.92.35
13. Finally submit the setting name, Swiftel or Swiftdsl should be fine, but name it what ever you want.
14. The next screen shows everything you entered, here you should check your settings and finally chose SAVE ALL SETTINGS. It will now save the settings onto your memory card.
15. After saving it will ask if you would like to test the connection select YES and next screen YES.
16. Once you get all green lights (you should) select exit, it will now automatically connect you to Central Station, it will be awfully slow. If it does not seem to work after a while restart your PS2 and try to connect to Central Station again. Once in, you will need to enter a lot of details. After all of it is done, you are finished and can play PS2 games online!
It took me a great while looking around boards and sites to get my PS2 working and all the information I collected to get it working, I used to write this guide for Netcomm1300 plus 4 users.
