How do you change the mode of the DLink DSL 300 modem?

A recommended way of setting up the mode for the DLink 300 is to use Hyper Terminal and the serial port of the DSL 300 version C2.

The DLInk 300's default port setting is 8 bits, no parity, 1 stop bit and a baud rate of 9600

The actual command sequence to reset it is as follows:

192.168.1.1>
192.168.1.1> itex
192.168.1.1 itex> line down
Deactivating line...
192.168.1.1 itex> mode auto
mode auto ok...

Change will have no permanent effect after restart unless you save the configuration.

192.168.1.1 itex> home
192.168.1.1> config
192.168.1.1 config> save
Saving configuration...Configuration saved.
192.168.1.1 config> home
192.168.1.1> itex
192.168.1.1 itex> line up
Activating line...
192.168.1.1 itex> EVENT:Initializing
EVENT:Showtime
Rate: Fast Interleave
Down 0512 0000
Up 0128 0000
192.168.1.1 itex>

It doesn't matter whether you set the mode to DMT or Auto; it will work in either.
