Hi

I have recently been getting a lot of trojan horse attacks. I always thought by having a router (hardware firewall) that it would stop these attacks before it even got to my software firewall I am getting worried that maybe my computer is not as protected as i first thought. Any assistance would be fantastic.

Thanks

Get an up-to-date virus checker, download all updates then do a full systems scan.

Hi

Do as DWZ said, but also get yourself a copy of Ad Aware (http://www.webattack.com/get/adaware.shtml) and Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)

A properly configured hardware firewall should prevent your software firewall from seeing these Trojan port probes. This doesn't sound like you have been compromised, just an inadequately configured hardware firewall.

One suggestion I give all people is NOT to allow all traffic out.

All our traffic needs to be authenticated. It stops the majority of trojans in their tracks (they are unable to 'send info' out then. :)

Also it can't be stated enough that up-to-date AntiVirus software is a mandatory. Setup a full computer scan to run at least weekly (I normally run this overnight!)

I also use AdAware and SpyBot Search and Destroy daily. :)

Cheers,

M@tt.

Hi

The firewall just says that it has blocked these. I do a full system scan every two to three days of course after updating. I have done a security check from the nortons website as well.

Thanks

I have made quick newbie site to help people scan/detect/remove then monitor their windows system, using mainly free software.
