Just wanted to know if there is any Meter for OS X .

Having recently come over from Bigpond cable and used Jamie Carmie's Launch app which was just great.

Anyone know of one?

Paul

Nope.

But I will have a look at writing one.

Brand new ADSL user here. I'd also like to get a 'feel' for how much traffic we are pushing through. I could run something client side, but I wonder if it would be feasible to use a script to parse Swiftel's logs? Is the information appearing in the "My Usage" section timely or accurate enough to warrant such an effort?

At the moment, there is no traffic shown for today or yesterday (which was the first day of use), and an empty entry appears for tomorrow. Maybe it is teething issues, but that suggests to me that that information is not exceptionally reliable.

Oh, and "Hi everybody!" ;)

I guess this is a bit slower but works...
set the usage page as your home... or a bookmark... whenever you want to check it click it... slow but still works..
:)

Great idea Testius about making one. :)

Check out Ridge

I haven't tried it yet but it seems that it will do what is required.

I would love a usage meter for OS X as well.

If any of the ones floating around at the moment were rewritten in Java it wouldn't even be an issue...

What about a konfabulator widget, If there is an XML feed of our personal usage then it would be really easy to write one (I'm not volunteering)

If there were an XML feed (which I don't think there is) you could implement in almost anything.. Flash would be my pick, as it's universally accepted and usually isn't as slow as java, etc.

Anyhow, I'm working on "screen scraping" the page, as it accepts normal "GET" parameters for username and password (ie. ?user=asdf&pass=jkl).

I'll keep you guys updated..

Hrm.

Suddenly (like today?) the page seems not to like my GET parameters. Very strange.

Anyone on here want to "get together" and combine our efforts to create this usage meter? I messaged the person who created the windows version, to no avail.

Mac-heads unite? I think it would be very cool if a few Mac-heads on here could get together and create something that works on Mac and Win. Show the @#$%'s up, y'know?

Switched from Bigpond ADSL today... hopefully should be connected to Swiftel by thursday next week. Just wondering if there has been any progress with the mac usage meter? Would be extremely handy once I get connected... I have no idea how my downloads usually soar above their limit. *whistles innocently*

You want
http://members.swiftdsl.com.au/usage.php?username=<webmail_user_or_ADSL_phone_number>&password=<corresponding_password> without the <brackets>. Does this help? Also check www.weymouth.id.au (I've made a Swiftel usage meter for Mac) but I think that idea posted above for Konfabulator widget would be great if it could be implemented!

I to have seen and are now using it.

Peter's meter is very good. I like to see that he is talking with Jamie Curmi. His meter (I use Launch for Cable) was an outstanding app.

Anyway here are the direct links:
