Hi All,

Myself and a friend are interested in getting a swift adsl line each (1500/256) and we want to setup a IP VPN.
Thus a VPN over the public internet using our routers instead of computers.

Any ideas?

Would this then allow us to play lan games ?
And we would be able to ping say "192.168.50.100" from one site and it would get a responce from the other site (if that ip was allocated to a machine) ?

Thanks!

Chris

it would depend on what model your routers are and the configuration but the simple answers are:

you can do it using cisco but they're expensive. the billion 741GEv2 routers can do it. i'm guessing that the netcomm ones do too. you'll need a router and not just a basic adsl modem.

yes, but if you encrypt your traffic you may experience some latency problems depending on your line speed and router processing capability.

yes.
