I have a Netcomm NB1300 +4 and have been trying to share the internet connection via the integrated 4 port switch without any luck.
I have only 2 PC's both with XP Pro and can connect either PC directly to the internet if I disconnect the other. I have changed the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 on both PC's and ipconfig shows one to be 192.168.1.2 and the other to be 192.168.1.4. I have DHCP and auto settings enabled on both PC's.
Please advise how to go about setting up a simple LAN in which I could share data between the 2 PC's and access the internet on either via the NB1300 +4

Hi Phantom,
I have just installed one of these 1300+4 devices, works like a dream with 3 units connected.
Make sure your cables are not crossover, reset the modem and enter the appropriate details in the setup page. When you do enter details you have to save them twice, once on the bottom of the page, then on the lefthand side where it resets.
I initially just hooked up one machine, didn't have DHCP enabled and had no happiness until I did. Allow the modem to automagically assign ip address to your systems. Just to let you know they do work, and very well at that. Good hunting and if I can help you in any way, just yell at me - I'm married and used to it (being yelled at, that is).

Thanks for the tip Silverman but I found that I had no problem with the setup. If I run a 60 meter (45 meters still in a coil) cable up the stairs all is ok but my 20 meter connection in the walls and accross the ceiling is not working at full speed and invariably stalls or freezes.
There are no cross over connections and I have used cat 5E UTP and suspect 2 possible problems.
1) I am not to confident in the displacement termination at the wall plugs - it's a rough process but on the other hand I checked with a multi meter an all looks OK.
2) From my office there is 5.2 meter length of cable which runs parallel with the phone line and I suspect this may be ineterfering. The ceiling is OK and the other wall is OK with at least a meter between the cable and other wiring.
Any hints or tips before I embark on a wastefull rewiring?

I don't know much about cabling (helps having a friend in the business) but your surmises make sense to me.
If it works fine when you run an external line you really do have to question what is happening in the wall or ceiling cavities and bypass as best possible. Good luck.
