Any chance of bringing on melb.general for the Mexicans?
There may be other city-specific groups of interest to others as well.
Thanks,
Luke

Welcome aboard. I've only been with Swift for a bit over a month, but I'm pretty happy. Hey, when I signed up, the download limit for my plan was 8Gb, and it's already been raised to 12Gb. And I rarely go above 1.5Gb anyway!
All we need to do is persuade 'em to get melb.general in their newsfeed. Anybody getting this? <g>

Yeah wouldn't say I use more than about 1.5gb myself, except with other people in the house we use about 3gig all up.
Looks like I'm getting melh.general in the list but it only comes up with one message (perhaps it takes a while for the feed to start sending posts for the group?):

It seems that the only posts to come into melb.general so far are crossposts!
There's a lot more traffic in melb.general than what is showing up.

Hi Jeremy.
One thing at a time, now that I have a direct contact with Sprint news team I can work more things out. They haven't been the easyest to talk to.
I certainly haven't forgotten about:
melb.general
aus.audio-visual.home-cinema
aus.tv.digital
Regards,
Richard

Are they American? 'nuff siad.
PS. Also please add alt.binaries.pictures.birds (unfortunately not many ISPs carry this group). I just posted some pictures of wattlebird chicks to alt.binaries.pictures.animals but every time I post bird pictures there someone requests them posted in the other group too. (It might also be alt.binaries.pictures.animals.birds)

Hi,
Looks like we are loosing melb.general because Sprint do not directly peer with anyone in Australia, some where along the server hops the groups are being filtered and we are catching only cross postings.
They have admitted to this and you can see it from many of the Path's
Path: news.syd.swiftdsl.com.au!203.222.32.131.MISMATCH!n ews-syd!news-peer-asia!newsfeed1.dti.ad.jp!newsfeed2.dti.ad.jp!newsf eed.media.kyoto-u.ac.jp!news1.optus.net.au!optus!newsfeeder.syd.op tusnet.com.au!news.optusnet.com.au!newsfeed.pacifi c.net.au!nasal.pacific.net.au!not-for-mail
Xref: news.syd.swiftdsl.com.au aus.tv.pay:1191 aus.tv.digital:100
I will see if I can convince them to peer or we will try get another feed.

Thanks Richard. Is it possible for Swiftel to peer with a number of upstreams? Maybe it'd also be a way for ensuring articles don't go astray (I think loop control would prevent having to retrieve duplicates?).

I don't see where it actually says that, though when I was on Optus@Home/Net Cable they always carried melb.general. That leaves the question as to whether their wholesale feed is separate but I doubt it.

yes it does say:

I was mainly looking at news-caching server feeds, Dnews...
