I think it would be nice if there was written guide to set up, given that the info included with the modem doesn't deal with the Mac side. Thanks

Juluis it really does vary what o/s you are running. 9, Jaguar or Panther. I've had a bit of experience setting up on all three and currently running on Panther...

List your stats and we'll see what we can do for you. :D

Paul.

Hi,
I have a G5 2.0 running Panther and a notebook 15.2 inch running the same.
I actually want to do the whole thing with airport eventually, but the basic modem setup will help thanks.

Lucky you.
Panther couldn't make it easier for you.

>Go to System Preferences >Select Network >Select "Using DHCP" from the configure pull down menu. (pic attached)

You don't need to touch any other settings in the Network window - let your modem do the rest.

As for modem setup, it will depend on your make/model but access the modem setting page through your browser (it will be something like 192.168.0.1) (side note: Safari doesn't like to access the setup page on my machine, I have to use IE- so if you have trouble, try that) - Swiftel can operate on PPPoA or PPPoE, I'm using PPPoE. For DNS settings, If there is a radio button for "Get Automatically from ISP", select it, otherwise use the DNS servers supplied for your state:
http://members.swiftdsl.com.au/

Make sure multiplexing is LLC based, VPI 8, VCI 35

Hope this helps.
