I sent a test email to hotmail 1 hour ago and it still hasn't arrived!! This is unacceptable! I have people send me emails that either arrive late or not at all, and there are emails i have sent that have NEVER reached their destination. What is going on? I admit that i am using webmail, is the problem with that? I don't want to use an external email client because i use a very old and slow computer so i don't want to use up resources if i can do everything from explorer. Besides, webmail uses the same servers doesn't it?

I began using swiftel as my main email provider for my business last week. What seemed to be an unreliable service was blamed on the attack of a spam virus, and i was impressed with the level of communciation and customer service swiftel displayed throughout this crisis.

But all is not well. Since this time i often send a test email to and receive one from my hotmail account to see if its working. Most of the time it isnt!!

ok that last email i sent ended up in my junkmail folder, i guess because i put "have you read this" in the subject. So please ignore that example. All the other problems i mentioned aren't explained by this, as i do check my junk mail regularly.

If you're relying on email for business purposes, then I would suggest that you consider:

1) Registering your own domain

2) Running your own mail server.

I do both (although I don't have a business).

That way if there's a problem with email not working (provided your ADSL service is working) and mail doesn't work, you can troubleshoot and resolve the problem yourself. :)

If email to my domain doesn't work, and it's something that I can fix, then I get on to it!
