*sighing* I am receiving emails, but can't send. I get this message -
<Can't send to". The server gives this reason; 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1) >
What does this mean? Just when I think I have things figured out, something else pops up!

Only took 5 hours for a 1K "Test" email to be delivered. We have another "Worm in our midst"?

Just sent an e-mail using my Swiftel account to my domain host's mail server. It went through straight away.
To send e-mail via Swiftel I am using the new server in Sydney smtp.swiftdsl.com.au. To receive mail I am using mail.swiftdsl.com.au

Hi Occy,
Not sure if you are a new user or not but its not uncommon for people to address their email as xxxx@swifTEL instead of swiftDSL.
Just a thought.

Occy,
I have just sent an email to myself - both from my yahoo account to my swiftel account; got it in a heartbeat. I'm in Melbourne.
Any potential problem with your dial-up provider?
Cheers.
Yeah I am a new user as of today :)
I am using @swiftdsl.com.au
I also sent one from my hotmail account and am not recieving that either :(
I am using : pop3.swiftdsl.com.au (incoming) & mail.swiftdsl.com.au (outgoing)

Hi Occy,
Although not related to your problem, Richard (DSL_ENG) recommends using smtp.swiftdsl.com.au for outgoing if you are in Melbourne.
Cheers mate, will chuck that in now :)

Hi again,
This is probably a stupid question but have you set up the mail account in Outlook or whatever mail program your using?
Yeah that is where I am using it from. Also a mate tried to send me one aswell and that hasn't come through. Thanks for helping.

Hi,
Have you recieved a confirmation email that your email account has been activated?
Nah I haven't but when I rang them up tonight to get my password and username everything got activated. On my application status page all it had was telstra had confirmed the application but when I got home the WAN link light was steady so I rang em up and got it organised :)

Hi,
The first email account I set up took over two hours to be activated. Secondly, when you send emails, are you sure Outlook is not using your dial up account, it may still be the default?

I had the same problem, until I actually got connected via DSL - could recieve via (yuk) OE, but not send. Could both send and receive via webmail.swiftel.yada.yada.
Presuming it's a deliberate restriction so that POP clients can only send mail if they're on a Swiftel IP; if you're not, that's what webmail's for. <grin> The account password is not a tool of God -- despite what the banks say...
I am sure that the new Swiftel acoount is default. Im guessing now that my email was not activated in some sorts, and also I am not sure if I even did send anything. The emails I sent looked as though they got where they were supposed, everything was normal but they were probably not recieved at the other end. I don't know at this point.

Occy,
I hate to ask an obvious question, but did you go to the members' area and set up an e-mail account?
Yeah I went there and set up an account. Just got home now and checked my email and still nothing had been delivered, even from last night. Email not activated yet? Using Outlook Express it runs through properly, recognising my account, but still no emails! Oh well maybe it's not activated yet? I have no idea.

Sounds silly, but have you tried sending a mail to yourself from your Swiftel account? It's the first thing I try when setting up a new account.
Yeah man, tried that several times but to no avail :( Thanks heaps for trying to help me :)

Have you tried webmail from the members area? Might be something dodgy with the email client you're using.
Just tried it then. No email was recieved in Outlook Express nor in Webmail. I have double checked the addy and the settings numerous times. This is getting very frustrating!!

Did you use webmail to send yourself an email, or were you looking for the one you sent last night? Sorry - it's just not clear from your post. I'd try sending one from webmail to swiftdsl address and then try picking it up in webmail.
And if that doesn't work, it's adslsuport at swiftel com au for you... I think.
Sorry for not making it clear, but isn't the account I setup for Outllok the same as what the webmail would be? I sent myself an email from Outlook to myself and nothing, sent myself an email from webmail to XXXXXXX@swiftdsl.com.au (same one as I setup in outlook and in the user facilities) but still got nothing. Guess it's time for what you said :(

Yep - it should be the same.
If you set up xxxxxxYUYIUYDF@swiftdsl.com.au in the members area, configured OE to get mail from there, and logged into webmail using xxxxxxYUYIUYDF and did the send receive thing, then it's time for a call [or email ;)] to adslsupport.
Sorry!
