Do we need our computers and modem/router come into any of this ?

In other words, if i dun have a computer and a modem/router but only got an ADSL internet connection, can i still play PS2 online?

Yes u can connect directly to PS2 with a computer. I personaly use a Netcomm NB1300 router. I can have my comp n PS2 running the same time. Sweeeetttttttttttt.....................

my computer is upstairs and PS2 is down...

which makes it pretti difficult to connect it...

The PS2 has PPPoE built in so it can use a modem directly. If you have a router it can plug into that too although you would have had to configure the router already with a PC.

I normally play my PS2 on my monitor but I am going to install some network cable into the walls during the holidays for the loungeroom.

ok i see...

what if i have 2 ADSL modems ???

can i plug 1 with PS2 and the other with the computer so i can go online at the same time or that wouldn't work...?

Yes u can. But setting up the PS2 just for the modem takes some mucking around.
Go to PS2 forum for more details on modem setups.

That won't work.

In that case you really should just use ICS or a router. run a network cable out to the ps2 (installing the thing through the walls isn't hard).

Or ivest in somewireless gear.

Yes two modem WILL WORK. Have you setup a PS2 online yet? Or you r just guessing? ,mmmmmm.............

But, your susggestion was good in regards to using a router. When using route, remeber to use a crosswire cable.

You can use a modem on the PC, you can use a modem on the PS2. But you can't have 2 modems connected to the same DSL line.

And yes I got the network adapter running on day one although on day one swift had issues with gaming :)

But yeah, the beast solution is ICS or a router.
