I have been trying to setup an email account with People Telecom however at this stage I can send emails but cannot receive them.
I use - Windows Mail, Wireless account. I have been told the SMTP for the outgoing server should be wireless.people.net.au but don't know about the income server. I rang People Telecom to be told try pop3.people.net.au. This doesn't work. Can anybody help?

Hi dowser,
wireless.people.net.au will only work if you are using a People Telecom wireles2Go device, if you are then this SMTP server will work however if not, please refer to our Self Help Section (http://www.peopletelecom.com.au/support_main.php?content=10) for the correct SMTP server for your state.

If this doesn't help, please post the error message you receive here for us to assist you further.

Hi John

I contacted people telecom today only to be told that I cannot use people telecom for emails. This doesn't appear correct. The welcome letter I received together with the modem gave me a customer number, told me I had wireless2go and to change the SMTP to wireless.people.net.au. The self help section you refer me to for Windows email comes up with a server error. It all appears too hard so I have had to resort to gmail for emails.

Hi dowser,
I am not sure the about the information you had been provided with, however the wireless2go product does not come with free email accounts but you are still able to use third-party programs (such as Outlook, Mac Mail, or Thunderbird) to view emails.

The incoming mail server will be provided by the company who manages the email account, and the outgoing mail server will be the wireless.people.net.au you were provided with in the letter and in my first reply.

I hope this information helps.
