Hi all
I am using Interent Explorer with all of the updates and Windows XP Home. When I restart the computer I can not use the web, this is fixed by going to Tools-> Internet Options -> Connections-> LAN Settings-> and then unticking the box that says to use Proxy server. Once I have done this I can use the web until I restart the computer again and I have to repeat the steps above.
Does anyone know how to fix this?
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks .
Mark

Try setting it by going through internet options in the control panel... also try it as administrator if you aren't already.

If that doesn't work... ask google where to look for default proxy settings? :)

The changes that you are making to the LAN settings are supposed to stick after a reboot.

If logging in as "administrator" (as recommended by simonb) doesn't work, I would say your software has a bug. Could be in XP, could be in Explorer.

I don't recommend you uninstall and reinstall anything as this could make things worse (knowing microsoft) - you can run REGEDIT and look for the proxy settings in here and fix them that way and see if that sticks after a reboot (but be careful - backup your system files first).

Hi all.
I just worked out that it was a program called Ghostsurf that was making the changes after startup, I disabled the program and the problem is fixed. Thanks again
